The days figure counts forward from the last month-anniversary, not from a fixed 30-day month. Someone born on the 31st is treated as reaching their month-anniversary on the last day of any shorter month.

Frequently asked questions
Why do the months and days not add up to the total days?
Because calendar months are not equal. February contributes 28 or 29 days and July contributes 31, so a run of months converts to a different number of days depending on which months it crosses.
How is a 29 February birthday handled?
In a common year the anniversary is treated as 28 February, so the age increments on the last day of February rather than skipping to 1 March.
Does the result depend on my time zone?
The date you enter is read as a plain calendar date in your local zone, so the answer is the same one you would get counting on a wall calendar.
